Texas Flips 4-Star Safety Toray Davis from UCLA in Major Recruiting Win! (2025)

Major news alert for Texas Longhorns fans! The team just secured a significant victory on the recruiting trail, flipping four-star safety Toray Davis from UCLA. This late-game acquisition is a huge boost as National Signing Day approaches.

Davis, a standout from Boulder, Colorado, had initially committed to UCLA back on June 28th. He surprisingly stuck with the Bruins even after their head coach, DeShaun Foster, was let go. However, with Bob Chesney joining UCLA, Davis has now chosen to head to Austin after visiting in late November.

But here's where it gets interesting: Davis is ranked as the No. 372 overall prospect and the No. 33 safety in the 2026 cycle according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. This ranking is a composite score from all major recruiting media outlets. He also holds the title of the No. 4 recruit in Colorado.

Interestingly, Rivals has Davis ranked even higher, placing him at No. 150 overall and No. 13 among safeties in their latest update.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 pounds, Davis is a valuable addition to the Texas class, which is currently ranked within the top 10 nationally in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He joins fellow four-star cornerbacks Samari Matthews and Hayward Howard Jr., solidifying the Longhorns' defensive backfield.

And this is the part most people miss...

Texas is not only gaining Davis but also building momentum heading into National Signing Day. They recently flipped four-star defensive lineman Jamarion Carlton from Baylor. Carlton, ranked No. 99 overall, chose Texas after multiple visits. This gives Texas an impressive eighth top-100 prospect in their class.

Additionally, Texas secured commitments from three-star linebacker Rocky Cummings, three-star running back Jett Walker, three-star offensive tackle Kaden Scherer, and three-star linebacker Charlie Jilek in November. Coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are putting the finishing touches on their class just before the official signing.

The updated Texas class currently ranks at No. 7 nationally.

What do you think? Will these late additions propel Texas to new heights? Do you agree with the rankings, or do you have a different perspective on the recruits? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
