Gil Hanse's architectural journey has seen him restore and renovate iconic courses, such as Plainfield, Quaker Ridge, and Winged Foot. Now, he's honoring the concepts of legendary designers like Tillinghast, MacKenzie, and Ross in his TGL designs. "It's thrilling to see these concepts come to life virtually, challenging the world's best players," Hanse added.
The first hole designed by Hanse, Stone & Steeple, is a testament to his creative vision. Set in a New England landscape, this par 5 hole features Sahara-style bunkering, reminiscent of his Baltusrol restoration. Players must navigate large fairway bunkers and a rock wall guarding the green, with a church steeple and graveyard looming on the left. It's a unique risk-reward challenge, showcasing Hanse's ability to create immersive experiences.
TGL's holes are specifically designed to enhance the league's fast-paced, team match play format.
